ASSOCIATION CORNER
Don’t forget to register for the 2010-11 Season!
We appreciate your commitment to our program this past year and we hope to see you back this coming season. Remember that we have excellent facilities, very competitive teams, lower costs (especially if you use the grocery card program), and reasonable ice times.
- • starting no earlier than 9AM, and finish no later than 10PM.
- • extra development skate each week this year at no extra cost to you,
- • lower costs due to our being all volunteer now.
Registration forms can be picked up at the rink or on our website http://www.fhhahockey.org Please remember to get your registration in to ensure your place this fall – and Bring a friend!
Lower Dues for the 2010-11 Season!
We are pleased to announce that we are able to reduce this year’s dues! Dues are approximate and will be finalized after the evaluation skate. We are a non-profit so we set our dues to match our anticipated costs. Approximate 2010-11 dues are as follows:
Mini mites $450
Mites $575
Squirts $975
Peewee $975
Bantam $1300
Midget B $1550
GET INVOLVED!
Please consider getting involved – this is YOUR Association!! Our current board is quickly aging out and we need parents with younger players ready to take on board positions next year.
Join us at our meetings to get informed and involved – you don’t have to be on the board to attend. All are welcome. If you have something you would like to do please let us know.
We currently need a Secretary and Director for the board. Other possible positions/needs are: pre-school liaison, Web master, Logowear manager, Team Manager’s manager, Championship day Chair, Districts chair, Newsletter writer, Timbits Liasion. To name a few.
Hockey Weekly and FHHA Season kick-off coaching seminar (open to coaches, managers, and parents)
HOCKEY WEEKLY and the Farmington Hills Hockey Association in conjunction with HW Columnist Paul Lubanski present a metro Detroit hockey coaches season kick-off coaching seminar: “Positive Interaction with Your Players Is What Will Determine Your Ultimate Success, or Failure, as a Coach in 2010-2011.”
Paul Lubanski will share his unique perspective, experiences and writings accumulated via his quarter century as an athlete, coach and author. As well, he will lead a discussion on how coaches can and should be preparing to enter the coming season, centered upon becoming a committed and positive influence to their respective players for the coming season and far beyond.
WHERE: Farmington Hills Ice Arena second-level meeting room
WHEN: Saturday, July 31, 2010
HOW: Pre-registration will be offered via HW (email puck@hockeyweekly.com) or at the door with coffee/donuts from 8:15-8:45 a.m. Seminar 9:00 a.m. to noon with two breaks
COST: No charge for Farmington Hills coaches/parents/managers and $5.00 for non-FHHA attendees

Perani’s Hockey Warehouse Sale July 22 - Aug 1
This year, Perani's Hockey World is taking over the Farmington Hills Ice Arena to bring you THE largest hockey equipment sale in the WORLD!!! They are out of room in their warehouse, so they are bringing truckloads of gear to fill the arena up to the rafters and as always - pricing it to MOVE! Open 12-9pm most of the days.This is a great chance to come and get some great deals on equipment for the upcoming season.
COACHES CORNER
HOUSE EVALUATION SKATE
Hold the date: This year’s house evaluation skates will be held on Wednesday August 18 with a make-up skate on Thursday August 19. A separate newsletter dealing just with the house evaluation process and times, will be sent out shortly.
TRAVEL TRYOUTS
Travel team coaches information and the tryout schedules are posted on our website: http://www.fhhahockey.org and clicking on the travel tryout schedule.
FHHA will be fielding a 2000 Fire team, coached by Kevin Swope. Tryouts are this coming week. Anyone interested may visit our website for tryout information.

Thank you to all of the people who helped! The Championship day games and the Development Skate raffle were a great success. Thanks to Jamie Betke for chairing and all of the teams for providing raffle items. A special thanks to Jamie Betke, John Staran, Kelly Moran, Dan Kozoro, Bill Devlin, Molly Brennan, Don Nahat,, and Janet Arnold who worked the whole day.

FHIA IMPROVEMENTS
This summer the ice arena is undertaking some further improvements. Most visible will be figure skater’s locker room, the pro shop being moved more forward, and rink A’s ice making components being improved. The high schools booster clubs are also hoping to be building locker rooms for the Varsity Teams paid for by the boosters.
